City of Barrie planning staff are proposing to put 12 to 25 story apartment buildings beside single detached homes all across the City and cut the public out of the planning process. I have been a planner for 50 years and have written zoning by-laws for municipalities across Canada. No other municipality in Ontario is doing what is proposed by planning staff in Barrie, for a good reason. It cuts you as residents entirely out of the decisions about what happens on your street. There are very appropriate places for high density development in Barrie, but beside single-family homes is not one of them. Is anyone missing their cat? Very friendly cat, looks young near mapleton and marsellus . It has been coming to our door recently looking for food. Every time we fed it our cat’s food, it would finish off the bowl so I suppose it’s hungry. It still isn’t friendly enough to trust us to come inside our home so that we can take it to check for microchip. This sweet baby has no collar. Source

The door was locked. I did have valuable items but nothing was taken. Just a huge mess and broken glass. Source

Wondering if anyone knows who may be the owner of this cat? Near Emma king school, daily this cat is terrorizing my cat and as you can tell it is stressing her out.. ( closing the curtains doesn’t help as my cat just moves them ) With colder weather approaching perhaps it’s best that the owner comes forward and brings the cat inside. No idea if it’s male or female as I can’t see anything dangling lol however I do suspect male. Source

It’s been 1 month since Mochi went missing

It's been 1 month since Mochi went missing. Mochi is a 7 year old female Grey and cream fluffy large cat. She went missing October 3rd from Little ave and Garden drive in the south end of Barrie. I have had several sightings of cats that match her description but have never been able to find the cat when we go to look for her. Please if you have any information or sightings contact me either here on Facebook or my phone at 705 716-3018 Mochi is my best friend and my biggest comfort in my life. I miss her every single day and my life hasn't been the same since she went missing. Source
