City of Barrie planning staff are proposing to put 12 to 25 story apartment buildings beside single detached homes all across the City and cut the public out of the planning process. I have been a planner for 50 years and have written zoning by-laws for municipalities across Canada. No other municipality in Ontario is doing what is proposed by planning staff in Barrie, for a good reason. It cuts you as residents entirely out of the decisions about what happens on your street. There are very appropriate places for high density development in Barrie, but beside single-family homes is not one of them.
