Just going to work down Bayfield and saw two guys having dumped bags of trash (from a city trashbin) onto the lawn of a business and going through it looking for items to keep .....then passed five points to several poor souls openly doing drugs on the streets. Those who say on this page that this is "normal" for any city...have obviously never lived in another city. Barrie has become a ghetto of in the past 2 years, sad but true. Source

**Stolen Equipment Alert** Today at approximately 4:53 PM at Airdex on Saunders, a white male mid 40s driving a black Ford pickup (2016-2019 model) with blacked-out windows and dark license plate covers pulled up beside one of our landscaping trucks. **Timeline of Events:** - **4:53 PM:** The suspect’s truck pulled into the lot and parked next to our vehicle. - **4:54 PM:** The individual exited the vehicle and removed two Stihl 800 backpack blowers from the rear seat of our truck, placing them into his own rear seat. - **4:55 PM:** The suspect quickly left the lot while our crew was behind the building. It’s crazy to think this stuff happens in broad daylight with our crew just 50 feet away! Unfortunately, our crews don’t always keep everything locked up tight for ease of use, but from now on, everything will be securely locked up. Does anyone know what took place at Georgian mall this evening? At about 8pm. The mall went into a lockdown kinda thing. All the shops locked the patreons inside the stores, and we had to wait for it to be cleared. I was stuck in Lululemon, and right before the doors got locked a man ran in and told his wife that ‘they’ were robbing the bank? We were only locked in for about 5 min. But then there was cops and security walking around, and some of the other store just stayed closed. I’m just curious more than anything. It didn’t seem like anyone got hurt or anything. Source

I know there has been some hate on here towards the city of Barrie and cleanliness

I know there has been some hate on here towards the city of Barrie and cleanliness of city parks. Here is a city of Barrie crew at 6 am this morning(Sunday) cleaning up the soccer fields off of Huronia road after a large soccer tournament yesterday. I was hesitant to post this because of all the negativity. I just wanted to show that they could have left the mess until Monday, but they were out bright and early today. While I agree some of the responsibility does fall on the participants, the City was not leaving it. Source

Update speaking with Jeanette Mays of Barrie Police Communications, Barrie Police were called to the Georgian Mall at 8pm this evening for a reported armed robbery, involving 6-7 suspects who smashed glass display cases and fled in a stolen white SUV. One individual suffered minor injuries and was attended to on scene. Although it is believed that no shots were fired, a firearm may have been seen in the possession of the suspects.The investigation is in its very early stages and more details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
