The South Simcoe Police Service is issuing a warning about online job scams

The South Simcoe Police Service is issuing a warning about online job scams after a Bradford woman fell victim to one. The victim responded to a Facebook ad for a part-time data entry job, and the hiring process moved to WhatsApp with 10 other people, giving the appearance of legitimacy. The victim was scammed into paying upfront funds to receive her commission for reviewing video games, but she never received any earnings. The police are advising the public to be cautious when applying for online jobs and to be wary of requests for upfront payments. Source
