Helping Hands for the Homeless Barrie did drop offs to homeless encampments today of care packages, toiletries, blankets, air mattresses, etc. A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated. Source

Not sure if everyone received this survey about road safety but for those who did, they ask where we would want to see money spent that is collected from speeding tickets in safety zones. I think we should consider selecting the 'other option' and tell them to improve our bussing routes and schedules. If they improve the bussing routes it should result in less traffic on the roads. Bus drivers (ideally) already follow the rules of the roads, so that should be an increase in people driving. People are having to find alternative ways to get where they need to go if they have trouble with the bussing routes and pre-booking pick ups Source

Recycling will be collected in Barrie on all holidays except Christmas and New Year's Day. Place your recycling bins at the curb by 7 a.m. as usual if your collection day falls on a holiday.

On Wednesday June 26th at about 6:45 pm I had a slip and fall in the parking lot of the Food Basics on Essa Road. I was grabbing a few quick items while my mother-in-law was visiting from out of town. My wallet and phone flew out of my hands and was out of my reach. I was flat on my stomach and could not move. My ankle was severely injured, and I was certain it was broken due to the pain I was experiencing. SO MANY wonderful people stopped to help me. A woman who was walking behind me asked me if I was okay (before I started screaming) and phoned 911. Another woman got my wallet and phone and called my husband to let him know what happened. A man who says he was a fireman (or retired fireman … can’t remember) helped me get turned over and elevated my ankle. A woman holding her newborn baby said she was a nurse and was instructing people what to move and what not to move – asking me if I hit my head or not. And all these people helped and waited with me in the pouring rain!!! …

I’m hoping everyone can recognize the peddles on the Roght side as the Gas peddle and th break peddle! But you might be like; Hey… Anaon… What are those Buttons on the left and what do they do!? Well Barrie Concerned Citizens members that’s what I’m here today to teach you! Those are our L/R turn indicators and high/low beam buttons! First let’s talk about H/L Beam… In advance, lemmme apologize if we ever forget to turn them off… We flick them often to try and find the Dark Bus Signs at night. Sometimes we will think we click them off and they won’t! So that is the Black button at the top! Those silver knobs on the Left and Right… We have to press and Hold them to indicate our intention… They don’t click on and click off, we have to keep our foot on them… So… What is the lesson?
