Whike clearing leaves I found dozens of these growing in a spot

Whike clearing leaves I found dozens of these growing in a spot I rarely go to in the summer. Google tells me that it is asparagus. Wouldn’t I have had to plant asparagus in order to get dozens more? Does anyone know what this is?
